Elena S. Kantor
I am an artist and technical creator working across painting, design, and tactile construction- ranging from fine art and scenic painting to puppetry and spatial and lighting design. My work explores light, structure, and memory, shaped by the places I have lived, the cultures I have grown up around, and the stories carried in each experience.
I earned my B.A. in Theatre Arts and Pure Mathematics from Le Moyne College, where I focused on design and technical production. Mathematics taught me how to critically and creatively approach any problem. Whether designing a puppet, developing a complex scenic build, or composing a painting, I bring the same rigor of logic, proof, and creative problem-solving that guides mathematical thinking. The discipline of pure mathematics trained me to see patterns, test ideas, and embrace structured experimentation. These skills now inform every aspect of my work, form conceptual to practical. Theatre taught me how to build worlds. How artistry, engineering, and narrative, intersect with emotion in one place, and how to add that perspective to the more rigid problems, creating work that is both precise and deeply expressive.
